VENUE TARGET SPECIFICATIONS
Lane dimensions, target construction, and board specifications for WATL-affiliated venues.
So long as targets follow Section A.4 (Target Specifications) of Gameplay Rules, all following specs are recommendations only.
LANES
- Each lane contains 2 targets.
- Fences or walls for safety containment.
- Only 2 throwers + judge inside. 5 ft clear behind throwers.
- 12 ft minimum ceiling height.
- 12 ft minimum lane width.
- 15 ft minimum length (20 ft for Big Axe).
- Fault lines: 3 inches wide, measured front of target to back of line.
BUILDING A WATL TARGET
Each target is made of 3 layers:
- Layer 1 — OSB or plywood on the wall.
- Layer 2 (Backboards) — Horizontal 2×10s, 4 ft long, packed tightly. Usually 6–8 boards.
- Layer 3 (Targets) — 4 ft 2×10 lumber: targets + headers and footers.
End grain wood is permitted.
